Atlas Barge Boat fit out

We had a number of enquiries about complete Atlas Boats last season as we started the produce the hulls for home fit out. This blog will show development of the fit out so you can see how these boats are put together and perhaps inspire a few to try self build or part self build. We will cover the following areas

  • Hull moulding
  • Tank mouldings
  • Wooden thwarts and seating
  • Wooden trim
  • Spars
  • Sails and cover

The Atlas boat is a true adventurer, with a rich history and large flexible hull suitable for all occasions.

Hull moulding

Here you can see the next hull being built within the mould using wine red gelcoat to give a classic but distinctive look for the owner who also happens to be the boat builder. The next step will be bonding in 4 layers of fibreglass matt and reinforcement sections with resin.

Tank mouldings

You can see below the bouyancy tanks have been worked out and developed on an earlier version of the hull. This provide bouyancy, further strength and a platform to support thwarts, seating and ultimately the mast.

Woodwork thwarts, seats, trim

Below you can see another early version of the hull fitted out for rowing, here you can see the wooden thwarts, seating a trim really start add to the classis look of the boat. Here we have used Iroko wood.

Spars and sails to follow shortly..
